The Forest of Fakery: An Allegory
By Tim Ozman*
Five self-described Truthseekers—AJ, Diana, Tim, Rachel, and Marcus—enter Sandy Hook Forest convinced the world is not as it seems. When AJ discovers an oak tree that is entirely plastic, their expedition turns into an investigation. They document the synthetic bark, debate its purpose, and conclude it must be a surveillance device planted by a shadow government.
Days later they find a second fake tree, this one a pine. The pattern deepens their certainty. They map the locations, film the details, and argue over whether the trees form a network, a test of perception, or a breadcrumb trail left by unseen controllers. Each new discovery confirms the story they already believe: that nature itself is being replaced and that only they are equipped to notice.
Marcus, the quietest of the group, continues to ask the simplest questions—why only these trees, why here—but the others press forward, certain they are being led toward a larger revelation.
*The Forest of Fakery* is a short allegorical tale about the momentum of suspicion. Once the first anomaly is accepted as evidence of intentional deception, every subsequent finding is absorbed into the same explanation. The story follows a group of investigators whose shared method of inquiry steadily narrows their field of vision, turning a forest into a stage and ordinary trees into props in a narrative they refuse to question.
